How long have you been working in asset finance/fleet solutions for?
I started in asset finance back in 1995 with Custom Credit, which had part ownership of Custom Fleet. My journey began as an analyst, providing high-level reporting for managers. Later, I joined the commercial fleet team, working with the National Australia Bank.
What does your role entail and what excites you about it?
My role involves managing client fleets and building relationships with various stakeholders. I serve as an advisor on fleet industry market opportunities, particularly around electric vehicle solutions. What excites me the most is the potential of hydrogen solutions entering the mainstream market.
What are some of the challenges that you help solve for clients?
I help clients by providing vehicle choices and options for their employees. I enjoy offering advice and solutions to resolve pain points, even if the advice is not always actioned immediately, but provides consideration for future planning.
What are the biggest opportunities for fleet managers/finance/procurement in the next 12 months?
I see the increased availability of vehicles and brands as a significant opportunity. Clients can now grow their fleets with more flexibility, moving on from the limited accessibility during the COVID years.
What opportunities are there for Interleasing?

Improving customer experience and being more competitive in the market are also key goals for us.
What future trends do fleet managers need to be aware of?
I envision a future where in-house fleet management responsibilities are more strategic, with FMOs managing day-to-day operations. This would allow fleet managers to focus on bigger picture business objectives.
What makes Interleasing different?
What sets Interleasing apart is the personal touch. Compared to larger players, we offer a more personal relationship with customers, providing peace of mind and direct access to relationship managers.
What’s your proudest achievement while at Interleasing?
My proudest achievement was being named Employee of the Year in 2007, a recognition that came from nominations by my peers and managers. I vividly remember the award ceremony at Taronga Zoo in Sydney.
What was your first job?
My first job was as a paper boy, delivering the local paper called "The Mail" in Footscray when I was about 12 or 13 years old. I enjoyed riding my push bike, delivering papers to post boxes, and it helped me build a strong work ethic from a young age.
What inspires you outside of work?
I am inspired by recognition from my family, particularly my kids. While I value recognition from my wife, it is the acknowledgment from my children that truly inspires me, especially when they say or do something that we can attribute to their upbringing.
